Aviapin Boeing 747-436 G-CIVY Pin Badge - ex British Airways aircraft
This very limited edition is available in white and in blue, mounted on a collectable backing card featuring an illustration of the aircraft and information about the particular airframe on the back. The pin-badge is made from authentic aircraft skin featuring the original British Airways paint and includes a sprung locking pin back, for an extra secure fixing. The badge is 18mm across.
G-CIVY, which entered BA service in 1998, flew into the history books in October 2020 when it became the final British Aiwarys 747 to depart the airline's home base, London Heathrow Airport. A simultaneous departure of CIVY and G-CIVB, wearing the airlines Negus heritage livery, had been planned, but in the end VY followed VB into the air on October 8th. Thick, low cloud did it's best to dampen the occasion (hence the grey design on the Aviapin card), but VY turned back for a low flypast and final farewell along Heathrow's northern runway. The aircraft was broken up by e-Cube Solutions at their base at St Athan airport in South Wales.
VY (Edition 3) joins G-CIVG (Edition 1) in the Aviapin range, and will be followed by further releases from other BA 747 airframes. Follow @aviapin on Instagram to see details as they are released.
Please note that due to the active life of the fuselage skin from which these pieces are made, there can be some variation in colour and finish. Some have scratches on the paintwork, but these are not faults; they are evidence of the millions of miles flown by this aircraft through freezing rain and baking sun.
